A kinder way to say “please pay me”
Why it can fall flat
“please pay me”
Send “please pay me” and the other person hears a plea for a favor, not a request about money owed. A calm message naming the invoice or amount and a next step gets a better answer.

What to avoid
- Saying “I really need the money” shifts focus to your situation, so keep it on the invoice and the due date.
- Vague lines like “any update?” leave too much open, so name the invoice, the amount or the date.
- Wait before replying if you're angry, then write the reminder as a plain request.
- Threatening action you aren't ready to take weakens your next reminder.
- Ask for payment in the first lines instead of burying the request in a long friendly message.
