Alternatives to “happy to help” at work
Why it can fall flat
“happy to help”
The word “happy” is what can ring hollow, since it reads as an automatic sign-off when it closes every message. Usually you mean the request was no trouble and the person can come back to you.

Hi Geeta, You're welcome. I've attached the updated schedule with the new delivery dates highlighted in yellow. If anything looks off when you go through it, send me a note and I'll check it against the original. Kind regards, Abhishek
No problem, Sam. That report template is yours to reuse. If the totals don't add up when you paste in your numbers, message me and we'll find out why.
What to avoid
- Repeating it in every message makes it sound like a script.
- If you are clearly not happy, adding “happy to help” lets a tired tone show through.
- Stacking it with extra pleasantries like “always happy to help with anything!” can sound servile.
- Since it will be read as a yes, “happy to help” is a poor answer to a request you mean to decline.
