Saying “here you go” at work
Why it can fall flat
“here you go”
The word “go” in “here you go” makes it feel like a quick toss across the desk, and in writing it carries no context or tone. Usually you want to hand something over and make clear what it is and what to do next.

What to avoid
- Sending a file with no words at all leaves the reader guessing what it is.
- If the person has been waiting a long time, a bare “here you go” feels thin, so say what it is and what to do next.
- A sigh, sarcasm or “as I said before” can turn a simple handover into a complaint.
- Several attachments in one message need a note on which one matters most.
