“We will be in touch”: how to say it politely

Why it can fall flat

“we will be in touch”

Who will reach out, when, and about what all stay unclear, so it can read like a polite brush-off. Most writers actually want to close the conversation while telling the person what happens next.

Say this instead

What to avoid

  • Leaving the person guessing about who will contact them, when, and how.
  • Hiding a refusal behind it, because if the answer is no, it's kinder to say so clearly.
  • Naming a deadline you are not sure you can meet.
  • Stiff filler like “at our earliest convenience” makes the message feel cold.
