Alternatives to “reminder about the payment” at work
Why it can fall flat
“reminder about the payment”
The other person is likely to hear it as a vague nudge or hint, since it doesn't say which payment, how much or what you need. You want to be paid, so name the payment and ask for a date or a confirmation.

Short and easy to answer, so it suits a client you already talk to on chat, and it asks for a simple yes or a date.

What to avoid
- Skip “just a gentle reminder” on your third chase, and be direct and give a date instead.
- Sarcasm and lines like “as I already said” start an argument instead of getting you paid.
- Put the invoice number, amount and due date in every message so nobody has to search.
- A first reminder is no place for threats, so save firmer wording for later messages.
- Apologizing for asking to be paid what you are owed weakens your request.
