Hi Noor, quick update: order #6032 is delayed because one item arrived late. It should leave the warehouse Monday. Want me to keep it as it is, or look at other options?
What to avoid
- Opening with a vague “unfortunately” and then giving no reason or date.
- Passive wording like “mistakes were made” hides what actually happened.
- Guessing a new date you can't back up, instead of calling it an estimate and saying what it depends on.
- Blaming a named colleague or supplier in a message to a customer is a quick way to lose trust.
- Making the customer chase you is avoidable if you offer the next step in the same message.
